Public Records

Public Records Overview

With some exceptions, Ohio law generally requires that upon request, all government public records responsive to that request must be promptly prepared and made available for inspection to any person at all reasonable times during regular business hours. A person who is allegedly denied access to a public record by a public office or a person responsible for providing public records may file a complaint with the clerk of the Ohio Court of Claims or the clerk of the court of common pleas, who acts as the clerk of the Ohio Court of Claims for purposes of accepting and serving the complaint.
